Microsoft's Antivirus Tool will be released on 11 January with Monthly updates on the first Tuesday of the Month.

It's designed to 'augment' existing antivirus rather than replace. (As if monthly updates would be enough - NOD's default is to check for updates every hour).

Microsoft bought the Romainian company GeCAD for their antivirus.

  • Interesting to note MS's new software picked up 2 pieces of spyware undected by either Ad-Aware or Spybot (both with latest defintions) in a test i've just run on my PC.

Snap.I have the same as you and this prog found 2 spyware (and 250 infected registry keys :o), even though I check my system about twice a week.
Might be worth keeping but I don't think I'll be uninstalling Ad-Aware or Spybot just yet......

They all seem to have certain pieces of Spyware they only they can uninstall so it seems running the three is a good idea.

If anyone has problems with error 101 when trying to start the program....
    Start > Run

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe" -Embedding

    It's a common problem apparently
