Be interested to know how you got on, I replaced a 2 way valve a few years ago, and the new one had totally different wiring, but managed to get a conversion and do it all myself.

Would like to put a new 7 day timer in to when we have a new kitchen. If you are competant, then I can't see it being too much of a problem, as long as you can find a conversion or compatible timer.

New timer Drayton LP722 arrived at 1pm today. Checked it over as was an ebay purchase but all looked fine. Already checked compatibility with Potterton EP2002 by reading installtion instructions. It was a straightforward swap. Took 10 mins to remove old and fit new and another 10 mins to programme. So very happy and pleased.
  • I had a new programmer fitted (Horstmann Centourplus C27) when the house was rewired 4 yrs ago, ever since if I set it to just hot water the radiators get hot, but not the water, I can't get it to heat the water at all so have to use the immersion now for hot water. The electrician assures me it's nothing to do with the programmer but says the plumbing is not right, he would wouldn't he? Everything worked fine before the rewiring and the plumbing has not been changed. Any ideas?
  • The other thing to consider is to just leave the heating on 24/7 and control it with a programmable thermostat. That way you can set different temps for different times of the day and on all day at weekends etc. Much more flexible than a normal programmer, effectively the stat turns the heating on and off, not the programmer.

I've got the Honeywell CM67, probably superceded now, and been very happy with it.

Yes, get the useless sod back in to do it properly. If he can't or won't, then get someone competent in to do it and recoup the money off the original bodger.

This is a 10 minute job to identify and fix, but since I am reliably informed that all problems like this are down to faulty zone valves, I am unable to assist further.
