My First Scalextric .. Is it possible to buy replacement cars?

Or will standard scalextric cars run on this track?

We bought DS a new set of this 3 or 4 years ago, then I got the second set without cars (so we could combine to make agreat big track) from ebay a bit later.

One of the cars is now worn out, so you can't race them any more. Obviously, everyone has the same problem, cos there are no cars for sale on ebay.

I love it. cos it's a bit more robust than the more grown up sets. It seems a shame to sling out the whole set, esp as new scalextric sets are sooooo expensive

So does anyone with knowledge of slot car racing have any idea if we can buy any other cars that will run on this track?

Thanks

You certainly used to be able to! My boys are 18 & 20 so it was a while ago.......

Is it an actual complete car, or have the brushes worn out on the part where it goes in to the track? You can def buy replacement brushes. Try more traditional toy/model shops, or online.

This looks like a great site http://www.slotcarcentre.co.uk/acatalog/maintenance.htm
  • I think 'My first scalextrix' cars are smaller than normal ones - they are in the 'micro' category on their website - http://www.scalextric.com/shop/micro/

You'll need to buy micro cars - they're about a tenner each.

Thanks you guys, this is really useful info.

I've found a shop on ebay selling pairs (and singles) of Micro cars at good prices.

This means I can buy DS new cars for christmas. Not expensive, reusing something we have already got, and not adding to the clutter we already have.
