Oil Filled Radiators?

Has any one tried an oil filled radiator, we are thinking of buying one, but would like to know what peoples opinions are first.
Are they cost effective?
Do they give out much heat?
Are they suitable for heating large areas?
Thanks for any help you can give.

It depends on the size. My 'office' is in a converted garage, so I have one warming my toes as we speak! It's a little Tesco Value one, but it does the job.
The other is much, much larger and heats the (huge) conservatory very well, supplementing the heat provided by 1 CH radiator.
Cost effective? Well... they're not cheap, but they do heat well.
They give out a LOT of heat.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

It is for our conservatory/extension, we do have one large CH radiator, but it's in the L shape part of the conservatory, we need something on the opposit side, we already have a radiator in the main part of the lounge, but there is a slightly cool area from the lounge into the extension. You have to listen to learn!0 -
Ours is 1.5kw and works fine (iirc dimensions wise the conservatory is 28'x14'). We have it 'on' most days and the thermostat set to 22C. It adds about £25/mo to the electricity bill.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
