Clamping exit strategy??
Wife was clamped Friday, and had to pay the sub-human £172 to free the car. Without going into great detail, it was, as so often is the case, unjustified, and even the neighbors came out in support, all to no avail of course. So, money gone. Whilst researching the topic of clamping, and possible redress, I came upon a website which gives an absolute guarantee of getting the money back, by downloading and sending one of their letters. Money up front, of course, nothings free.
Alright, so this is a first time, and I don't know my way around this topic, so maybe, just maybe, its true. Well, you have to ask. Thing is, does anyone know if it could be true, or just another con, preying on the gullible? My real inclination is to park there again, and wait with a pickaxe handle, but of course that is illegal, whereas extortion from the vulnerable is obviously not.
The form she had to sign included a ten day time limit for claims, and a whole list of reasons why such claims would be rejected, some of them, I would think, on rather shaky legal grounds, but I'm no expert. Anyone who considers themselves incapable of homicide has clearly never been a victim of these neanderthals.

Download Letter = scam
Your only possible route of refund is to see if there are any legal grounds for having the charge overturned in court. This would be things like
Were the signs clearly visible on entry to the land, and did the signs clearly explain which area of land they applied to?
Was the clamping company licenced? have you checked the company was correctly licenced?
If they were clearly visible why did the missus park there?
If she missed the signs for some reason then you are starting to be on the right track. If she missed the signs they OBVIOUSLY were not clearly visible and she could not have agreed to the contract. Therefore contract does not exist and you are owed the refund.
Even with the charge overturned in court you then have to get the company to pay up, which may not be easy.0 -
Thanks, I was hoping that you would pop up. That's about what I have managed to ascertain so far, including the improbability of ever seeing the money. Apparently these "companies," can ignore court orders with inpunity, and if they pile up too high, simply dissolve the company and reform under a slightly different name. How can this be allowed, when we read every day of ordinary people being hounded for the most trivial things. Cue wailing and gnashing of teeth...It made my blood boil even before we had fallen victim. Ought to go back to Scotland, the scum have been outlawed there.
