Flies

When we moved into this house (rented property) there were a lot of tiny little flies on one of the window ledges downstairs, plus a fair few in the bathroom down there (it's an upside down house layout)....They were all dead so we just hoovered them up...However since then they keep coming back.....last week we've had to spray the rooms and hallway at least 3 times to kill them, the other day I found 25 of the dead little whatsits....(so fed up I counted them lol)
Is there anything we can use to get rid of them for longer?
Thanks

It is there. I had a plague of medium flies in a bedroom one spring when I moved into a new house. Hundreds. I swatted and swatted and swept up the bodies and still they came, over perhaps 6 months. When I decorated the room later, I found a dead bird in the flue of a disconnected gas fire, which had been largely stripped to the bone. That had been their food source. That's the thing I can't see anything they would be feeding on...
