I have one of those cards you need, if Headway are not giving them out your local brain injuries clinic might have them. This is what they have on them
" I am a survivor of a brain injury, I may have problems with my memory speech or actions. Your Help and patience would be appreciated."
the the name address and telephone number at the bottom.0 -

Could you print some for him to use on buisness cards on the computer?
ALso does he have an occupational therapist or anything like that? They could possible help. Hopefully the interview will just say not suitable to go back to work at this time, I have worked in mental health and our service users used to have them alot-abit of a waste of jobcentres time (plus service user getting stressed, transport to get person there and support staff) but the job centre had to tick their little boxes and follow procedures.0 -
HI thankyou all for your replies,
well as for his interview he didnt go, he was having a bad day!!
how can they expect him to hold down a job when he cant even do this? i rang him as i was waiting for him as he doesnt like me to pick him up etc , it is very hard for me as he gets very frustrated, he has got an occupational therapist perhaps i should speak to her0 -
Sweetypie, has your husband been referred to a neuro-psychologist (warning waiting lists are extremely long, we accessed one at a specialist rehab unit so only waited a few months). They help with a whole range of issues as a result of a brain injury - mental health, memory probs (even if you are not aware of any), damage to executive skills etc.0

My ex did go to the job centre but it was rather obvious he was incapable of work and then social services, etc got the hint and left him alone, but they all seem to think cos he looks ok, he is ok:mad: he has basically been left to flounder now without any support but has a really great girlfriend so im sure that oneday he will eventually get back to some degree of normality, it all takes time though, theres no time limit of these things.
5 years this month actually, im actually going out to a concert on the date of the anniversary this year which will be good, its always a difficult time of year. I found him after the accident so it still haunts me and always will.0 -

Sorry for the lateness in replying Danielle been unwell, I cannot print of a few as the actual card has my details on it, I have asked around a few places but they don't have the cards. Next time I am up in the clinic Ill see if they have a few I have an appointment in a few weeks if you can wait.0 -
hello sweetiepie2
sorry to hear about your son. Does he want to go to work? My cousin (born with his disability) gets great support from the British Legion. Odd, I know, but they have been fantastic in helping and supporting him thro getting a job and dealing with any problems he faces in the workplace.
I also, like some of the others on here, have written him a letter to give to people who should know better informing them of his disabilty.
good luck with it all to both of you.LBM-2003ish
