Crunching Sound From Struts

Just wondering how much longer struts are good for once they start making crunching sounds when the car goes over bumps? My mechanic said there's nothing to worry about for now, but I'll need to change them eventually, just wondering how long I can go without replacing them.

Put your fingers into the bottom of the strut springs and feel for a broken spring.

The pic shows the spring broken quite far away from the very bottom end of the spring, they can break also very close to the end of the spring, so check yours all the way to the tip of the spring, and if you can, with the wheel removed, and a using a torch, look up at the top end of the spring aswell.
My springs also crunch sometimes on some speedhumps, I'm not worried about them at all, I've checked for broken springs and I don't know why they crunch
If your mechanic says its ok, it probably is ok.0 -
thanks, I'll check into that, I think they'll also need to be replaced anyway since they've been on the car for almost 100K miles..0
