By law you should declare your inheritance, and Im afraid to say it will affect your entitlement to jobseekers, as I assume you are on Cont&IB0

Take the £12,500 and move to London, there's always work for those that want it and it'll get you out of the small-town rut.
There is the whole world out there.
Why limit your job search to the local area London or the UK?0 -

Yes I would put it all into Gold and Silver.
These banksters do not care about you, the laws, anything, they are going to pull the plug, and when they do, your going to wish you had Gold and Silver.
They are laughing at you...
If you're worried about financial armageddon: invest in tinned food, bottled water, fags, guns and ammunition.
If, however, your tin foil hat was blown away in a freak gale, then I would use the money to change your life - as mummytofour said.

Could you transfer onto a full time course now that money is not an object and finish your current qualification sooner?0
-
no i cant transfer to full time,
the course only runs part time and the course i'm doing it for to get into
doesnt start till septermber
i'm doing several part time courses and voluntery work all to help me get into the course i want
i guess its a case off living off the money and hoping that i can find a job soon that i can work around my sparadic studies, its just its a great oppurtunity to be able to do the fulltime course that starts next year without the overhang of extreme dept.
(i already have a degree, so i'll get no funding for retraining in a different area, due to extreme personal and family reasons i'm no longer able, or wanting, to pursue the career i originally trained for and there are no jobs in that sector in this area and its become very important to me due to health and family that i stay near home)0 -
personally i would ask a relative to look after your money- inheritance is important and your relative would want it respected and not blown on mundane living. i too live in a small town and am struggling to work but want to be close to family- i admire you for sticking at your education and not being a bum!0

Lots of other people have to live off of cash reserves when they lose their job, why should you be any different? BTW, the money is yours whether you bank it or not, trying to hide it by not banking it is plain dishonest (where is it now, BTW, stuffed in your mattress?)Je suis Charlie.0

I didnt realise it was in MSE's remit to provide advice to act illegally.
The OP has a significant windfall, and shouldnt be advised to hide it because it can affect their rights to benefits.
Whatever happened to the principal of paying one's own way in life when you can afford to do so, as the OP obviously can now?0 -
hey everyone
just to let you know that the moneys been declared and i will have to live off that as its going to effect my benefit but i know that thats the fair and right thing to do
its only till september before i start my course so it should have all gone away by then
thanks for the comments anyway guys0
