Flat panel monitor damage

My son has decided to scratch the screen our flat panel montior with a compass. Is there any way of repairing the damage cheaply without replacing it. It is only scratched not bruised?
Wildly my mind beats against you, yet the soul obeys. :heartpuls

I suspect the only answer is a complete replacement, but filicide might make you feel better about the cost!

You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

If you Google for "LCD scratch remove" you will find several products, including the one already mentioned.

Note that Maplin have an answer to a question about whether their product will remove scratches from LCDs, namely that since it is a mild abrasive, probably not!

So I would be very careful on product selection, or you could make matters worse...

PS How did the filicide go?!
