Not sure if this is the correct board but here goes...
My brother is going to start a job in Japan in August and currently has a graduate overdraft with Natwest. The OD is being reduced by £1000 in July and he's applied for a graduate loan to cover the OD, money he borrowed from my dad, his flight to Japan and about £400 to tide him over until he gets his first pay cheque.
He needs to send me money on a monthly basis to pay to Natwest for the loan repayments...what's the most cost effective way of doing this? He was thinking of using Western Union but I think the fees are exorbitant, especially if we use it on a regular basis.
Does anyone have any experience of this?

Assuming he will open a bank account in Japan his best option is to ask how much they will charge for sending money to the UK.
It may be more sensible to send payment every other month if possible to cut down on costs, and don't forget charges will apply to both sender and receiver (normally between £7 and £12 this end)0
