He's off the ventilator!!! My sister is hoping to get a hug today and, all being well, they could be home at the weekend!

He's still off the ventilator and doing well. She tried to feed him yesterday but he was still a bit groggy and not very interested, however she got a summons from the SCBU nurse at 3.30 this morning because he was getting a bit fussy and he latched straight on! She's fed him a few times since then and says he's a greedy little so and so!!

Because she's managed to establish breastfeeding they're happy for Michael to transfer out of SCBU to the maternity ward with my sister and are preparing the paperwork as we speak. They'll have to be in the hospital for the next few days as he's on the antibiotics until Friday, but all being well should be able to go home after then,:j:j:j:j:j:j

    glad its going well!

Ive been in this situation with both mine.

Apart from a shoulder to cry on, the thing that really sticks out in my mind is my close friend coming to see us in hospital with a bag of baby clothes, and a pair of pajamas for me. The pajamas made me feel more "covered" at night (baby belly and bleeding and all that) and I slept better as a result.
The other thing is first time round a friend brought me a big bowl of cottage pie, much more use than all the flowers that i didnt have vases for!
