What other free software do I need?

Hello those with the knowledge,

I have Avast, Spybot and Ad-aware. Do people think I need anything else to keep the computer clean and in tip-top condition?

I have a laptop connected to broadband through a router (ignore this sentence if it doesn't matter!).

Any comments appreciated.

You'll need a program like CCleaner to delete temporary files, remove unnecessary files and clean the registry. You can get it here.

Edit: dont click to install the Yahoo toolbar when installing the program

    I'd suggest Zonealarm as well.

ooo, actually, forgot all about Xcleaner, that's the other one I use.
recommend that as well (combines CWSearch detection as well as cleaning up temp net files etc ;) )

and thank you kindly for your thanks :D

Start >Control Panel>Internet Options> General Tab, then "Delete Cookies" then "Delete Files" then "Clear History".

CLeans up all surfing guff & no need to download another programme to hog somemore system resources.

Also once in a while do a "DisK Cleanup".

Spywareblaster works well in combination with Spybot. Spywareblaster prevents known malware from installing itself on your machine in the first place.

The £7 for automatic updates is well worth it in my eyes, but you can avoid the cost and opt for manual updates. Get it from download.com.
