Tesco freeview box died

Tesco freeview box died earlier. Its only two months old.
Receipt says "call our helpline" etc.
However I know under the sale of goods act any electrical item which develops a fault within 12 months of purchase is deemed to have had it at the time of purchase and you are entited to a full refund or replacement...
Do I HAVE to wait til this line is open tomorrow and call it to be fobbed off with repair talk or can I just take the full box, packaging and receipt to the Tesco where I bought it and get a refund/replacement ?

Thats not right unfortunately.
If it develops a fault within 6 months it is up to the retailer to prove it is not an inherent fault.
If the product fails within a reasonable amount of time (normally 4-6 weeks) you are entitled to a refund/replacement. After this time it is up to the retailer whether they repair/replace/refund.
I would give them a call and see what they offer, but they are within their rights to repair the unit for you.0 -
Also remember that some Customer Service Desks close at 8pm!Gone ... or have I?0

Tesco are really good at giving refunds within the guarantee period. Just take it back - original packaging is good. Don't bother with the phone call - in person is best.0

Took it back arriving just after 9pm last night.
Explained fault and girl on service desk offered refund, I asked if it could be replaced she invited me to take a trip up to the AV section to choose a replacement. Technika Scart one no longer on sale, replaced by a "TV-G" branded one the exact same and £10 more. They also had a "Dion" set top box, for £19.97, £5 less, so I took that one down to the counter.
My clubcard points were stipped back and readded, and I got the £5 back in cash (had originally paid via debit card.
However the new box didnt come with batteries, an aerial or scart lead  thankfully had spares available.
Although branded "Dion" the instruction manual inside refers to "your Tesco product" and it picks up channels on Muliplex C, something my old box didnt do, so all good in the end, well done Tesco :T0 -

Queensferry Ross, I don't know how they can remove your clubcard points, there is no function on Tesco tills to do this. All they can do is add points. Removing points is a long winded process.0

I've just got one of these, only to find out there are no jacks for connecting it to an AV. Any way to work around this with scart?0

I hava a Dion set top box which I bought at Christmas. It has been fine until last night. I was watching TV when it suddenly changed to "Heart Radio". Now it will not accept any channel I try to watch. I have turned it off at the mains and back on again but nothing changes. Any advise anyone??0
