To deter Joe Scum from nicking your wheels, a once very common occurence for owners of vehicles fitted with expensive alloy wheels before locking wheel nuts became common place ;)

Because Joe Scum doesn't usually drive around in a big yellow van full of specialist automotive tools. ;)
No, Joe Scum takes a crowbar to your rear window, gains access to your boot, jacks up your car and removes your wheels with your locking bolt. If he's feeling generous he'll leave it on bricks. if not, it'll be on its axles, with your wheel bolts strewn around the general vicinity.

(true story, saw it happen to a Skoda Roomster once. am guessing a dodgy private-hire Octavia needed new tyres for its MOT...)

You can get tilt sensors for car alarms so when a thief jacks your car up, it sets the alarm off.

Presumably you were first attracted to the scene of the crime by the sound of the fool smashing the window? Why didn't you alert the police immediately and even possibly intervene rather than just stand by & watch?
Whatever happened to good, old-fashioned community values in this country?

The typical Joe Scum doesn't like to attract attention to themselves in the way you were.

Actually, you're making rather a lot of assumptions, which make you look very foolish, quite apart from making a number of unfounded accusations at me. First I did not see it happen. my car was parked close to where this car was, on a bit of waste ground. Upon returning to my car I noticed the vehicle on its axles, the rear window smashed and all the wheelnuts on the ground.
As for "good old fashioned community values" you owe me an apology for that, in addtion to your libellous comments, becase I did, in fact report the incident to the police when I discovered it.
