Dripping shower

I have an Aqualisa shower...not electric or power or anything, but built into wall coming off a combi boiler.
It has started to drip.
Is there a washer or something as in a tap that can be easily replaced to sort this or is it a more serious issue and the shower needs replacing ( hope not as it is tiled over and then I would need to re-tile whole bathroom!! )

Advice please

    Hi

Usually requires a new cartridge. Is it like this?

No tiles need to be disturbed to change the cartridge (unless it was fitted without the cover plate!)

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Yes...it is exactly like that picture! Thanks. I will call Aqualisa and see if I can sort it myself ( gulp ) as my plumber seems to have started charging me silly prices recently. £70 to hang a radiator!! ( replacement, all pipework in place ) Ugh

Yes very DIY able. If you get stuck come back and I'll watch all the advice you are given with interest.

:D:D:D:D yep, fancy being completely fleeced for hanging a radiator by some gormless twit who had the cheek to charge a call-out fee. Outrageous.

How old is the shower? Many shower manufacturers offer quite long guarantees on their cartridges. Aqualisa vary on model but on some its 5 years. So don't go buying a new cartridge without checking first. If you are doing the cartridge its as well to change the inlet filters at the same time. This job is DIYable as has been said but sometimes its a challenge getting into the body. You'll be needing an appropriately sized box spanner in any event and frequently, a large chunk of ignorance is also needed.

Hey EliteHeat... I would never call a skilled tradesman a gormless twit! I use this guy regularly for my house and rental properties and have recommended him to literally dozens of other customers. he HAS started charging silly prices for small easy jobs... I guess business is slower these days and he has got his Spanish villa to pay for...and a new van!
Anyway...it seems like I will have to bite the bullet and call him over to sort the shower!

Then he needs to work harder! Whilst I admire you for supporting him given the amount of work he has done for you and the amount you have referred his way "started charging silly prices" is also starting to take the p..s frankly. It seems that he has got complacent with your relationship and thats unhealthy for both of you.

You asked if the job was DIYable and have been told that it is. Why do you have to bite that particular bullet then? If you want to get someone else to do it don't give it to him - he might take the hint and realise that your continued business is worth far more than a few extra quid bunged on each job.

    Sorry to be blunt.

    Cheers
