Washing machine installation- hellllppp!!

Hello,

Our washing machine has a hot water pipe and a cold water pipe.

Our new house only has the blue cold water pipe to connect it to???

I'm confused- can we just attach the blue to the blue and use the machine? Or do we need to buy a machine that only fills with cold?

I haven't a clue- help!

I assume your washing machine is an older one.

You need to connect it to a hot water supply unless you only want to do cold washes.

If there is a hot water pipe near by then you can easily tee in to it.

All you need is a Cold Fill Adaptor (do a Google search). This will allow you to connect the hot and cold fill inlets on your washing machine to the cold water supply.

The washing machine will heat the water for you - the advice earlier posters have given you about washing in cold water is incorrect.

The idea of hot fill is to make use of the hot water to reduce the amount of heating done by the washing machine - it's debatable if this actually saves energy, however. Most new machines nowadays are cold fill only - that's probably why your house only has a cold water supply for
