how to avoid paying for private consultant - health

My insurance only covers treatment not the initial consultant fee, I am broke now as I have been ill for a while and seen alot of private consultants and been treated privately out of my own pocket, for speed, I have been treated too by the NHS for certain things.
I have never claimed on my health insurance as everything was pre-exisitng, but I have a procedure which is not related to pre-exiting illness and whilst not medically necessary and not covered by the NHS, I would like to do as a pre-emptive measure as a member of my close family died of it recently and I am worried, it may run in the family. I know it is frequently done on request privately.
Is there a way of seeing a private consultant for free? Given that the treatment subsequently will be paid for by insurance? Or can I see an NHS consultant and them refer me for treatment under my private insurance , is there a way around not paying the £200 or so consultation fee?
