Mondeo Estate with a noise?

Looking at buying a 51 plate Mondeo Estate and everything seems ok - low miles etc. but there is a sort of knocking/dull mechanical noise)coming from offside rear of car, but only when in a low gear ie not when going faster?

my dad had an escort that had a similar noise, we changed lots of parts and the noise still didn't go away, it never failed any MOT's because of it. and didnt affect the driving of the vehicle
he put up with the noise for years.

is the exhaust securely in the rubbers?

Sounds like rear Anti-Roll Bar Bushes aand strnagely they do tend tyo only make noise at lower speed. It's a common Mondeo problem though doesn't cost the earth to repair, haggle a little off the price or ask them repair for you if it's a dealer.
