I opened a joint account with First Direct recently. The service (compared to Barclays) was pretty poor, so I closed the account within a month. They re-credited the balance to my Barclays account including the £100 joining 'gift' they had given us.
Easy Money. And for the patronising service they supplied me it's fair recompense.

And as a very happy firstdirect customer, the amount of interest I will get will probably be lower as a result of this ill thought out marketing campaign which is so easily gamed by others.
Oh well - sorry they were patronising - maybe they spotted you were trying to screw them?

Well said Rafter.
I've been with First Direct for years now, and their service is first class, and the staff will always go the extra mile.
