Manufacturer's Guarantee - when does it legally start?

I purchased a TV online from Comet last December, but did not take delivery until January (21 days later) as they were out of stock.
My moot question is when would the manufacturer's 12 month guarantee finish? Comet have written to me to say that it expires in December (and to sell me stuff) but surely I've only had the TV 11 months by then?
If something were to happen to the TV say on 1st January 2010 (ie less than a year after I took delivery, but more than a year after I paid) would I legally have a leg to stand on?

garuntees start from date of purchase
this is perfectly legal as they are not a requirement in the first place
as for if it broke. you have the sale of goods act to rely on which provides UP TO 6 years of protection varying on rice paid, and model etc.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

Guarantees vary from company to company so yours will be whatever it says, but usually will be date of purchase. As has been mentioned, you have rights against Comet under SOGA from date of purchase (not just after guarantee period finishes, they do run parallel and you can choose which route to follow) but good luck if you ever decide to contact them about a fault :silenced:Little lady arrived 13/12/110
