We have a 10 year old camcorder which uses the small tapes and have just spent a small fortune getting these onto DVD.
Have decided about time we bought a digital camcorder - hopefully one that is easy to transfer recordings onto DVD.
Could someone advise me if this one would do what I need .......does have good reviewson Argos.

That records straight onto mini-DVDs, most of which will play in a full-size DVD player. But you'll have to keep buying discs, which are surprisingly expensive and in my experience, mini-DVDs aren't always great.
Maybe consider something like this: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5633685.htm
which records onto an SD card. You can then connect to your computer to edit and burn to DVDs, so you can pick out what you want to keep and make it look good before burning to DVD.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

It's the same type of card. However, filming time is roughly 1 hour per Gigabyte (a little less in practice). It's also worth paying a little bit more for a faster card, most cheap cards have a slow write speed, which will end up causing videos to jump, block, etc.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. Why didn't you upload via a firewire card and edit and burn to dvd?0 -

It's a card that costs about £10 http://www.usbnow.co.uk/PCMCIA,_Express_&_PCI_Cards-PCI_Cards/c7_29/index.html?gclid=CIfv5ub3ip4CFZoU4wodQ0Zupg and it's easy to fit (can talk you throu it) and then all tapes can be uploaded to pc (usb can't transfer digital tapes).
I've tried dvd digicams and hd and now I've gone back to tapes. It's the easiest to edit and the highest quality.0 -
