Just discovered Express bake - Had to share

Options
I've had a morphy richards breadmaker (MRBM) for at least 5 years now. It has served me well, but the baking tin is a little worn and a little bent, so the bread sticks and the bends were due to the bashing I had to give to it to get it to release my loaf!!

So when Lidl were selling their BINEFIT BM for £19.99 I thought why not........Gosh I'm so happy that I did because not only is it a great BM, but it has the option of express bake.

My old MRBM didn't have an express bake option so all loaves took at least 3 hours. I swear that in the past 3/4 weeks that I've had the binefit BM I've made almost as many loaves as I did in all the time I had the MRBM.

I'm sure it's just a quirk of mine, but a loaf only taking 1hr 20mins to bake makes me feel more like baking bread. Maybe I have a low attention span or maybe I need instant gratification.....Whatever it is I know that express bake has changed my out look on bread making considerabley.

So nowadays we never buy loaves. I'm now in the habit of making a new loaf as soon as the old one is finished. I generally using one recipe and adapt it, such as throwing in some oats, using honey instead of sugar, adding seeds and nuts such as sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, mixing different types of flour.

I love express bake!!

That sounds great - I've lost the little paddle from my breadmaker and can't source a replacement, so am looking to get a new machine.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Have you tried the manufacturer's website? Mine is a Morphy Richards (£15 off ebay) but the bread pan became increasingly less non-stick, so I bought another pan from their website - £11.17 including delivery, and my bread came out first shake this morning!

Oh, I still don't know whether or not to get a BM- £19.99 seems reasonable though, and it seems to be a good one. What to do???

It is a good one so far. As I've said I'm making more bread than ever with express bake, which I love but also you can add what ever you want to the bread.
I love bread with lots of seeds etc in, but refuse to pay between 95p and £1.60 for a loaf when I can make something much cheaper and just as nice.

I'd say have a go find a cheap BM and experiment.:D

I've got express bake on my Morphy Richards BM. I only used it once and the bread didn't rise as well, and didn't taste as nice, so I've never used that setting again!
Here I go again on my own....
  • I think my loaf from Aldi this morning was express baked.

Depends on how much you value your waistline! My treat is to have the hot, fresh crust, with homemade jam. I've even been known to cut off both crusts, to have a double treat!! Fresh, hot bread is far more addictive than anything else I know.

Also your family get addicted - mine moan when they have shop bought bread now!! If you get one I would check it has a pizza dough setting - mine only takes 45mins to make fantastic pizza dough and has saved me a fortune in that alone.
