  • Can anyone help me - I need to know fairly soon if I can make a cake that in the recipe says use two eggs if I only have one egg left ??

If so, do I need to substitute anything for it ??

Alternatively just halve all other ingredients in comparison

there are MANY sites giving the same advice, no mention of vinegary taste... suppose the heat dissipates the taste much the same as it does the smell when you use it in the wash

White vinegar, brown vinegar, pickling vinegar .... or .... it doesn't matter which?

I wouldn't want pickling vinegar in it... does that not have spices boiled up in it, other than that I don't think it much matters.
Though if it were me, in preference id go cider, white, or brown in that order.
  • you can also use mayo instead 3 tbsp = 1egg :D according to this site

i'd substitute with a little milk. and if the resulting cake isnt quite as good as expected, wether it be milk or vinegar, just have it with custard and maybe some stewed fruit for pud.
