Former home secretary Jacqui Smith said: "I got into politics in order to further the cause of equality, defend the disadvantaged and stuff great handfuls of stolen money into a suitcase that I keep under the sofabed in my sister's boxroom."

Yes, they've become accustomed to living in taxpayer funded luxury, the poor little lambs - they can't bear the prospect of having to be like pretty much everyone else and having to commute.
Like you say, they would have a generous rent allowance so what's the problem? Apart from the fact that they can't fleece the taxpayer any more?0 -

Well, to the surprise of no-one, they've set up a new body (IPSA) to implement the new rules on MP's expenses, and the head of the new body (who incidentally is on £100,000 a year of taxpayers cash) is already saying he's not going to implement the proposals that MPs don't like.
That's it. I have no more confidence in this bunch of crooks - yet another spoiled paper at the next election.
EDIT: Oh, and just as the icing on the turd - Julie Kirkbride, disgraced MP for Bromsgrove who said she would stand down in the light of her and her husbands disgusting expenses claims, has now changed her mind as clearly the lure of 5 more years of freeloading was too much to bear -
