Well, to the surprise of no-one, they've set up a new body (IPSA) to implement the new rules on MP's expenses, and the head of the new body (who incidentally is on £100,000 a year of taxpayers cash) is already saying he's not going to implement the proposals that MPs don't like.
That's it. I have no more confidence in this bunch of crooks - yet another spoiled paper at the next election.
EDIT: Oh, and just as the icing on the turd - Julie Kirkbride, disgraced MP for Bromsgrove who said she would stand down in the light of her and her husbands disgusting expenses claims, has now changed her mind as clearly the lure of 5 more years of freeloading was too much to bear -

Bunch of lying f*cking thieves.
Every single one of them."The problem with quotes on the internet is that you never know whether they are genuine or not" -

They should add a new option to the ballot paper. 'Military Coup' - I'd vote for that.
I agree, nearlynew, what a bunch of scumbags - what is the point in voting for them when they are so clearly all about self-preservation and cronyism????0 -
I expected something like this would happen, given that the new rules will be implemented over the next 5 years.....
There are NO reasons whatsoever why the rules cannot be in place by the general election next year.........
MP,s = Pond life............0 -
C'mon.....it's not like we haven't seen this approach before!leveller2911 wrote: »I expected something like this would happen, given that the new rules will be implemented over the next 5 years.....
Witness any modern day scandal, be it arms scandal, dramatic failure in massive IT project, whatever.
The sequence we get is :-
a) government appoint some committee, headed by a worthy of some description
b) Lord/Lady worthy spends the next year or two gathering 'evidence'
c) any gov member asked about the issue whilst b) is ongoing says "let's be patient and await the fair enquiry"
d) said report from c) runs to 100s of pages, and apportions blame etc
e) meanwhile the indicted from the report have moved on, the new people in charge say "you can't blame us, blame the old crowd!"
f) rinse n repeat for the next scandal.
Voila, a classic smokescreen delaying tactic works, and often all we have to show is one more very expensive enquiry.
Why are we mugged by this every time?0 -
T b h this was bound to happen. There wasn't a lot of teddy throwing when the supposed new rules were spoken about recently the lying fkng thieves knew their ar5es would be covered somehow.
Many are coming across as if the wrongs will be put right asap and things will change for the better.... Bo11ocks, they are out for them selves.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
Is it any surprise at all? No.
Was this the reason they put Sir Kelly up in a spotlight with reccomendations that would please the public but no power? Yes.
Now, the MPs can just blame this other bloke, and say they were behind Kelly. They do actually think the public is that pathetically stupid.
Now, lets just wait to see if the MP's step in to sort this out and aceept the reccomendations...I won't hold my breath, they will likely just flap around a bit!0 -
You know what it's about?
Predictability.
MPs and their entourage of spin meisters; focus groups; think tanks; they spend all their time and effort working out what the public response will be.
Maybe we are too fair minded, reasonable, and in the end predictable.
I hope there is a by election soon, with a massive majority for a right wing nationalist party or something. I honestly do. It might shatter this comfort zone our ruling elite have.0 -
And just to be clear about this for our pinko friends, this has occurred during a period when labour (scumbags) have held a large majority......
Time for the odd crucifixion in Hyde Park to keep them honest????In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Well now we know what the awful cow Harriet Harmann was on about when she said that IPSA would 'shape' the recommendations. It's all a big stitch-up, quelle surprise. Just another Quango that they can refer to and blame - they'd already started doing it on Wednesday - 'that will be a matter for the IPSA'.
It would be funny if it wasn't such a damning endictment of how democracy and parliament is (or rather, isn't) working in our country.0 -
I rather like the line "well we need to live somewhere, do you expect us to commute 200 miles each day" I seem to have heard a few times.
Like they have completely ignored the £1200+ rent they can claim each month!!
I get the feeling the main thing MP's are upset about is the removal of the second home.0
