Anyone recommend a dual VHS/DVD recorder?

Having bought the cheap Technika DVD recorder from Tesco at Christmas for my parents I have seen them fail to adopt the new technology, and their efforts have been let down by the unreliable(at reading discs) Technika. I'm hoping to get a refund for it and my Mum would like a player that records both DVDs and VHS.
I've seen units that record VHS and play DVD, but am not aware of any that record to both formats.
Has anyone got any knowledge of such systems, and/or recommendations?
Many thanks

I am a cider drinker - like my father before me.
