VW Touran - which models/years have ABS/ESP problem?

Hi All,
We are looking to buy a Touran but hope to avoid this ABS/ESP problem by getting a model where it has either been fixed/replaced by previous owner OR get a new enough model where this is no longer a problem.
Can anyone help me by telling me:
If I'm buying a pre 2007 model, how can I be sure that the problem has been fixed/replaced? Will the seller have some kind of certificate or something official to proof it?
If I'm buying 2007 or later, then how do I know for sure that this problem is not there? Is there a particular model number or manafacturing month/year I should be aware of?
I'm not exactly an expert with cars, especially when it comes to buying and selling so please be gentle with me!

You mean just don't buy a Touran? That's a tricky one as, annoyingly it's the only MPV style car that me and my other half agree that we both like...
Anyone have any suggestions other than don't get one!?0
