RAC Warranty

Hi there
I bought a Golf GTi 1.8t a month ago from a dealer and it came with a 3 month RAC warranty. Ive recently checked and found out that I would have to change the cambelt and water pump as the previous owner didnt do it at 60 000 miles or since. The mileage is now just over 80 000, so it needs to be done asap.
My question is, is this something I can claim for under the warranty. It does say in the little RAC booklet that timing belt replacements are covered. But I dont know if this means if there was damage to it or just general replacement.
The dealer allegedly sent me the policy book two weeks ago, which i still havent received, so apart from the little RAC booklet which doesnt really say much, I dont have much information to go on. I have it booked in at the garage early tomorrow morning to be done. I suppose asking RAC direct would help, but I thought id ask here first in case they try to just fob me off.
Thanks for reading

I would have thought not as this is servicing, not a fault on the car. Unless the dealer claimed it had had the timing belt done and this was false I don't think there's any recourse. Ideally you should have checked before handing over your money.0

I think the belt will be classed as wear and tear. Get it done asap if it fails now you could have warranty problems.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
