Hi,
I tried to use £30 of vouchers that i'd been given as a present today, and the shop staff tell me they can't accept them as they're in administration and have been told not to accept vouchers by the receivers. Does this mean they are worthless? I will be furious if so, the company is still trading!
thanks for any help you may be able to give,

It is trading IN ADMINISTRATION. Bit like Zavvi did.
You need to write in to the administrators and rank as an unsecured creditor. Zavvi might pay out 5p per pound one day. Its been going on for over a year already.
Your vouchers are pretty worthless.0 -
that's really depressing. This country is a dreadful wreck isn't it? Thanks for your help.0

I don't think a company going into administration causes the country to be a "dreadful wreck".Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
it's more a symptom than a cause. We're still deep in recession when others are out. We have the greatest deficit in the civilised world. Our education system is FUBAR. We've got our very own Vietnam. It's not good.0

just done the same got 50 pounds worth, quick enough to take my money though, another case of the consumer been shafted, should be laws to make the companies say they are near to going into receivership a month in advance or give the consumers some notice so we'd be able to get rid of these by buying products...
outraged....0 -
How exactly do you propose a company giving a one month's notice of its impending doom?
The best bet is for the voucher giver to ask her Credit card company to do a Section 75 refund, assuming the value is large enough.0 -
I went into my local WineRack today and was told I couldn't use my £45 vouchers.
I was given this number to call 0844 576 8862, which is a recording.
The Sales Assistant suggested the best thing to do was hold on till a new owner is found....or not.0 -
BEWARE!!
Threshers that still exist claim they are NOT Threshers when it suits them.....
They either are or aren't still Thresher...they can't choose the best bits. They shouldn't be able to trade as Thresher and use the name (for what it's worth) if they are not willing to take on the existing debts like gift vouchers.
I think this should be against the law. They were happy to sell these vouchers, and use the Thresher name, but now won't honor them, despite already having the money in their banks..
With customer service like that they deserve everthing they get.
DISGRACEFUL!0 -
How ballsy do you feel OP?
Take in vouchers deposit on counter and walk out with booze to the value? Might end up in clink but I might be tempted...:beer:0 -
