Help - Advice needed on new peeling paint

Last year the inside of my Housing Association door was painted by the HA workers in Dulux gloss. This was painted straight on top iof my beautiful eggshell, evne though I told them not to paint it
The dog stays in the bathroom when I go out for a couple of hours and unfortunatly he's scratched the Dulux coat and now it's peeling
Do I have to sand all the Dulux paint off with an electric sander to get it all off ? If I had the time I could strip if off just by pulling it off

If I hand sand it with sandpaper I'm not confident it will get enough of the paint off and if the dog scratches a new eggshell coat the Dulux coat will start peeling all over again.

Help, advice and any jokes on this problem gratefully accepted ;)

I would be inclined to ring the HA and complain as the decorator hasn't done a decent job. It should have been undercoated. You might be as well to scrape the paint off. As it is peeling this shouldn't take too long. Then start again with a couple of coats of undercoat before you put on the top coat.

Thanks Phill - much as I suspected. Wouldn't let an HA decorator over my doorstep again, and wouldn't have this time except my bathroom was totally refurbed.

My o my. Gloss on walls? Oops I mean't door. Should not peel if the undercoating was done properly.

I would get them to do it. Pain in the backside to do.

If you do, you either get some paint stripper and peel away. Or get a decent heat gun and peel away. No other way.

The buy either an all in one gloss with undercoat. Or put a separate undercoat and then gloss.

Either way - long long long long and boring thing to do.

I've been painting and papering since I was 14 years old (thank you mother), and have never ever had paint peel, because I do a proper job. Get them to do it ? They can't, and my door is the evidence. I'm not even convinced the paint was Dulux even tho it was in a Dulux tin. Weirdest shade of white I've ever seen
Looks like I've discovered a new hobby to while away the winter months :D
