  • Ok, misslauren will no longer be playing bingo... Never been good with any sort of gambling so I'll nip this in the bud right now ;)

I thought that today I should do something to keep me honest will all the lovely folks here on MSE... I'm going to do a statement of my savings, debts, etc, so I can see my progress... and so others may tell me off if I get off track.

Here we go, at 21 years and 6 months of age I have:

Savings: Long Term (Can't be touched... literally in the legal sense!)

    Superannuation: $ 5,000.00
    First HomeSaver Account: $ 1,709.38

    Everyday Accounts/Short Term Savings Account

    Total: $ 18.42 (FIJI HOLIDAY!!! )

    Debts: Short Term

    Credit Cards (Total-2cards) $ 7112.62

Debts: Long Term (Student Debts/Secured Debts)

***These debts are deferred... so will begin to deal with this after dealing with current debts as they are interest free and will go up with the couple of years of study I have to do

What am I doing about it?

From Wednesday 16th Decemeber I will be doing the following:

    A Payment a Day
    The Sealed Tin/Can?? :o Challenge

    Hi Lauren

I'm also in Aus (Brisbane) and a big fan of MSE! I became debt free in September and am now concentrating on saving for a deposit! You sound like you have a good plan to lose the debt so good luck with it all!

Maybe have a look at ratecity (Aussie comparison site) to see if you can get another low rate balance transfer?

I really wish there was an Australian MSE to find the best deals!

Good luck and keep us updated!

  • Thanks tking, will certainly keep everyone updated.

I am currently very frustrated... had holidays 3 weeks ago and as it was paid upfront haven't had a pay day since... therefore no debt repayments recently. I will welcome Wednesday with open arms!!!

  • Ok, I have been completely inspired by Buffythedebtslayer with her impressive lists she has for her days.. so I'm going to give it a go, and everyone can flog me if I dont get through it :o

    OK, here we go :T

    1. Get through Smart Women Finish Rich and finish all activities, particularly budgeting.

    2. Tidy and organise my desk so I can actually use it!

    3. Put on washing that needs to be done.

    4. Finish notes for week 1 for my CMM33 subject.

    5. Finish notes for week 2 for my CMM33 subject.

    6. Vacuum bedroom and dust.

    7. Go up to shops and purchase ingredients to make up one of the recipes I already have sauces for, bring back home and cook for lunch/dinner, then tidy up the ensuing mess!!!

Ok... its not 10 things, but i'll be happy if I get through that :D

Good luck misslauren, I love to shop too! My tip for you is to flog the things on ebay you no longer want and make good use of the clothes you have.
