howdens kitchen/fitter price, what do you reckon

Im new to this area so dont know the tradesmen. Had my first quote, what do you think? The range is Howdens Greenwich beech which is supposedly on special

Fitting is £1320 + £198 vat, total £1518

On the units, first colunm is net then vat then total. Already decided not to get the appliances or sink ect from howdens, heard they not that good. Also this is only first quote but not sure if its a good benchmark. Specially wondering about what people think about the howgens unit prices, i read another thread on here about how someone was told one price by they fitter and found out the real price later was much cheaper.

6 Base units and 3 wall units?....If all the services are in the right place I would say the price is a bit high.

If the existing units have already been stripped out then I would say theres about 4-5 days work there max

As for the kitchen price ,what model is it???........... I always get charged £50 delivery so thats about right...Doesn't matter if its 6 units or 16 its still £50-00......

Post the kitchen model , choice of worktop and we can check.......

12 units in all - 6 base and 6 wall.

The electrics, gas and water will need to be tweaked a bit.

The quote is for howdens greenwich beech range with blackstone worktop.

The fitting quote of £1320 + vat includes taking out the old kitchen (maybe 6 units) instaling units,worktops,cuts outs for sink and hob,plumb in sink and fit the oven hob and extractor.

That quote looks pretty bad to me.

It's the cheapest range they do. If that is your budget you can get a much better kitchen range for that price. Otherwise if you really like that kitchen range you can get it cheaper than that.

And do not buy the Lamona hob/oven/extractor set unless you plan to throw it away if you have a problem. You can get branded stuff with a proper warranty for that price.

winchester hampshire. No, i dont love the greenwich (i had a look in the howdens branch) its just what the fitter suggested. And i already decided not to take they appliances or sink/tap because i heard they are not great. Like i said its what the fitter suggested. Ive also been looking on ebay at the new stuff that is 18m soft close but there are so many and you dont know the good from bad. Plus it seems the fitters want to supply themselves so you wonder what they buy at?

the thing with howdens is you dont know what it costs only what the account holder tells you, quite common for them to get two quotes, 9 units in greenwich beech shouldn't be more than 600

get another quote on a similar kitchen from wickes and b and q see how they compare, and dont listen to the old pony about rigid carcase, flat pack saves times having to square up the rigids

so if 9 units cost 600 then 12 should be 800 but im being quoted 1634 which has vat in it. so a 100% markup ?

I havent got the howdens quote. my first post showed what the fitter is charging me for each unit, bit ect. teh fitter is suppling the howdens kitchen so all i see is what he charges me. i tried talking to howdens but they say they will only deal with trade not me so i dont know what they are selling the kitchen to the fitter for. yeah im suspicius of this price. im arranging other quotes but they want to supply as well ! bet its from howdens.

We've just got Howdens out to design ours, then they're sending the quote to my uncle who's a joiner, so I can let you know howdens price once it comes back, but might not be for a week or so if you can wait that long?
My uncle is just going to send the quote straight to me, so you'll get to see it without any mark up by the kitchen fitter
