GAME have charged me despite upgrading shipping for FREE and I didn't receive it...

I've recently pre-ordered the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from GAME's website, and I have been charged £4.95 for One-day delivery as agreed.

GAME have upgraded all Call of Duty: MW2 preorders to Courier delivery which is the same as we agreed.

The item was said to be "despatched" yesterday, despite the release date being Tuesday the 10th. Since I've paid the extra for the one-day delivery, I expect to receive it in one day, and it didn't turn up, of course. I understand the release date, but I paid extra for one day delivery and it did not turn up one day after it was supposedly despatched.

My issues with this are:

1. I paid extra for shipping, and it hasn't been refunded yet (I've contacted and am awaiting a reply from customer services), despite them upgrading everyone's preorders to the same shipping as me for FREE.

2. I paid for next-day delivery. Surely that means I should have received it one-day after it was despatched, regardless of the release dates.

Any help with this?

Why did you pay for next day on a pre-order? Game normally send pre-orders out so you get them for day of release

To ensure that I do receive it in one day. :/
  • I too pre ordered through Game, with the 'free' upgrade to next day deliver - and had an email yesterday saying dispatched via parcelforce, has not arrived today - and, low and behold, an email from Game saying they have 'accidentally' charged me for the delivery. I too have sent an email to their CS, saying that I assume the £5 voucher that they have offered is as they say compensation, and not in lieu of a refund - and am awaiting a reply. Do you get the feeling these are not isolated incidents?!?!

But you know the release date is the 10th. Surely you wouldn't expect them to send it out so early?

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

    So what if I know?

If I'm not mistaken, they should have shipped it as per our agreement. It's not my fault that they've stated it's been despatched and hasn't come as per agreed.

In other words, you're trying to get Game to break the street date and get the game days before its release by being anal about their terms and conditions?

  • Not really, no.

I'm not worried about the release date. It's just they've supplied me with incorrect information and stuff about my order.
  • Just read elsewhere a load of messages about delivery - it seems that many stores that have taken online pre orders have all been sending out emails to people early saying item has been dispatched, but that this will not mean people getting it before release date - as they, and game are saying this too, will not knowingly send out an order if they know someone will receive it before release. Not really answering your point, but may be of interest.

I too got an e-mail from GAME on 5/11/09 saying that my veteran edition pre-order had been dispatched. However, all is not how it seems!! GAME sent email to all their pre-otrder customers on 3/11/09 telling them they were starting the dispatch process early because of the mail strike. I have also spoken to GAME customer services today who have informed me that the pre-order copies are still in the process of being dispatched ans so you should not expect it to receive it until Monday - afterall, they say they will deliver it in time for release day, and most of the time every pre-order I have placed with them has arrived the day before release day, with one or two exceptions. All in all, this is not too bad so I am happy to wait. Roll on Monday!!!!!
  • I'd just like to point out that my son used to pre order games from Game but that last time when FIFA was released it didn't arrive until the Saturday. The price was £39.99 which they claimed was a special offer as it was supposed to be £49.99. As it didn't arrive on the Friday he went to buy it elsewhere, yes he was that desperate but anyway he got it in Tesco for £24.97!!! £24.97!!! He took the Game one to a store for a refund when it arrived.
BTW, paying for next day - they post it out on the Thursday so you don't get it any quicker
