Involved in car accident 3 years ago, now my insurance company say I am liable?

don't sign - they're just some low life scum trying it on.

Thanks for the replies. Accident was other drivers fault, (honestly)! Problem is with no witnesses I couldn't prove it! After two years of arguing with insurers/solicitors (about wanting to take the driver to court) felt i had no option but to take 50:50. Now though feel aggreived that after all this time insurers are telling me to accept full liability? The other driver has caused a lot of stress by lying and in the end they get off scot free? It's just plain daft.
If there were no witnesses then, has the other party now "found" a witness? If not, fight it. Don't sign anything but send all paperwork to the insurer and let them deal.0 -
But you did accept it on the advice of your (insurers) solicitor.Hi, I didn't accept 50:50 lightly! ....
Why are you now wishing to argue about the 50? As I said, you've nothing to lose. Your insurers are accepting you are 100% liable and are indemnifying you accordingly."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Hi Chippy, that's why I'm here asking for advice. Never been in this situation before so wondering what will happen if I do/don't sign.
The best/worse they could do is have you attend civil court by way of a witness summons. The couldn't however make you say anything you haven't already said to your insurance company or solicitors.
Stick to your original version of how you remember events.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
If the statement has come from your own insurer to sign, then correct it (so that it states the truth as far as you are concerned and return it).
You are bound by the terms of the policy to "engage" with them when they are dealing with a claim for you, and complete any forms etc they send you, but of course you cannot sign a pre-pared "statement of truth" if you know it not to be true!0 -

And if he don't play ball what they gonna do void his policy from three years ago?

When taking out a policy, you agree to assist them over dealing with a claim, and if you don't you cannot grumble if they deal with it to your disadvantage!0
