    In that case, could get some cheap games/puzzles and some crayons?

    I wasn't meaning to be nasty BTW, just think party bags for kids at a kid's party are a ridiculous notion (no, I don;t have kids...)

    Chalk always goes down well - you'll be amazed how quiet it can keep them. Show them how to draw a hopscotch game on the floor and you'll have all the tipsy adults thinking they can do better.

    As well as the party bags, why not make them a den/tent out of blankets, clothes airers for them to go and hide in - doesn't matter what age they are - they'll still get in.

    I didn't think you were being nasty. I still believe if I ask a question, I should prepare myself for lots of different ideas!! and offering cake at the end is a really good idea, just not one I've managed to remember to do yet!!
