Hi Guys
I am having a BBQ at the weekend and want to put together a couple of bags for the children going - there are only a couple of boys, so I'd like to to include things they can play with for the afternoon, I have given them water pistols and balls previously.....any suggestions please??!
Thanks

Hi Murtle.......
You havent said what age they are so perhaps some of these ideas wouldnt be suitable, but I hope they help.
how about the small cardboard aeroplanes you can buy, about 30p each
Bottles of bubbles
Cheap plain white t shirt (tescos £1) to decorate (and supply fabric pens on table with decorating ideas...i.e. world cup ideas?...sheets from a colouring book, ideas off of internet)
Punchball balloon (but can be pretty noisy lol)
Cheap sunglasses
Blow football...pingpong ball and straw...they can have races or play a game
If I think of anything else I'll pop back on0 -
Fantastic - thank you some fab ideas their, where can i find the paper aeroplanes and punch balloons from please??0

Tesco has a big bucket of over 30 huge bugs and insects which is under £5. My lil one and friends loved it. Also have a huge water pistol that also has a place for a bottle of bubbles...£3 from Walmart.
Hope the weather holds for you!The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0 -
Oh Toys R Us do the paper planes in their party bag section - Tesco may do them as well. I saw them there just last week.
And the little parachute men - they are loads of fun.The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0 -
Depending on their ages, I'd personally avoid anything messy like bubbles or water pistols that might cause their parents to spend the afternoon telling them to 'be careful' or to not make a mess/ stay away from the food.
'Safe' things might include:
** Small magic tricks that can be bought from toy/joke shops - the kids will need to go off and spend ages practising and then can amuse your adult guests with a little show.
** A few ordinary balloons that they can inflate themselves and make their own games with.
** Yo-yos
Hope it all goes well

ooohh I forgot about the parachute men..the kids love them
I'm sure that tesco sell the aeroplanes, or if not discount stores or newsagents might.
Woolworths are pretty good on party bag bits too..i think they had some puzzles etc. there too.
Have a great time0 -
oooo thank you peps, fantastic ideas - think they'll get lots of treats if I can find them!! I love the idea of magic tricks that they can learn and then show the adults as they are wonderful kids!!! and then something for them to play with, and/or make lots of noise with!!!
I'd thank you all individually if I was allowed, but alas I must have used my quota already0 -
How about a slice of cake and telling them that that's how we did it int he old days when people understaood a birthday was about the birthday boy or girl and not about everyone else?
Or is that too radical?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

No not radical at all skintchick, but it's my birthday (I'm 30) so it's more as something for friends children to use whilst they are there to keep them occupied etc. They aren't demanding children and their parents would never expect anything but they are so good so it's a pleasure rather then trying to keep over excitied badly behaved children under control. They'll go home with some cake in a bag though (if I'm not too tipsy that I forget it)! They are usually happy to kick a big ball around, but I can't find it at the moment!!0

For my DS party at the beginning of may instead of Party bags we gave out watering cans with a packet of sunflower seeds.0
