No I absolutely did not mean that!
The 2x I bred with him were with KC registered females as mine is KC registered too. All health checks were done for all dogs concerned. The pups already had homes to go to as I knew the owners and people has asked if we could breed them. I didnt make any money out of one of the set of pups. I just dont feel right now he knows what his bits are for taking them off him. Thats all I meant. I dont have any plans to breed him again.
I will certainly look into castration after some of the comments on here and I will talk to my vet about it. It is something I will think about, but only from a health point of view. If it is something that will prevent health problems later then I will probably go down this route.
.
To be honest now he knows "what his bits are for", he may well be very keen to use them again, and may spend a lot of time feeling frustrated and fed up... neutering will remove this urge, which may well make him much happier and more relaxed!
He will not wake up and think 'OMG they have stolen my nuts!" he is a dog, they dont think that way - but he may well find he feels a lot less 'pent up' and a lot more relaxed after - of course, he will not know why that is though!0 -
Raksha, as I mentioned in a previous post, he showed no sign of dog aggression or any other trait when I bred him. He certainly has no other problems and is great with people and a few smaller dogs.
hi bailey59,
That's fine, I just wanted anyone else reading this thread who was thinking about breeding a dog aggressive dog to realise that they had responsibilities and legal obligations. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

When our boy was done, (and he was very big in that area especially for a smallish breed poor little devil) he was sitting in front of the fire the next evening, lifted his leg to give his bits a good lick and then looked round the room, as if he had misplaced them somewhere, pmsl. OH particularly felt very guilty about having him done but we felt it was the best for him. It really never worried him after that though and whilst my anti catrating vet said it would probably make no difference to his aggressive behaviour within 6 weeks he was much calmer when out. Of course, getting laid back Diggs helped with that - but even so we saw he was much happier.
Same problem with that vet when we rescued a 5 year old ex breeding b i t c h. We wanted her spayed but he talked us out of it murmuring about incontinence and so on. 2 years later she was an emergency for pyometra and nearly died.0 -
