How do i know if the buyer has/hasnt received the item?

If a package is not sent by recorded, tracked or signed for delivery, can a buyer, just say they havn't received it and get a refund.
I have sold a faulty phone and the buyer keeps asking where it is.
Posted on 1st November standard 1st class because thats what they paid for......so its been a few days?
How do i know they havn't received it??
Is it stuck in the post strikes?? But i thought they have finished.

Also because i don't have enough detailed seller ratings and because the item was above a certain amount. The money coming into my paypal account for this item are pending. So i to wait until 22nd November, or until i receive positive feedback for it to clear.
Don't know if this makes any difference??

Sending an item tracked and insured is for your benefit not the buyers (you as a seller are responsible for getting the item to the seller). If you wanted the item tracked you should have worked that into your pricing. Mobile phones are a big scam item especially off newish sellers which it sounds like you are. Yes the seller can claim item not received and be refunded as you will not be able to prove delivery. I hope you at least got proof of posting so that you could claim off royal mail (up to £39 - Plaes don't say it sold for more) if it is lost.
Although its only been 5 days so the item could still arrive even though the strikes have finished there is still a back log in some areas. I do hope this works out for you and its just caught up. Email the seller explain that there is a backlog from the strikes in certain areas and get them to wat a few more days.0 -
the 1st was a Sunday
so the item wouldnt have been collected until monday0 -
