Gas or Electric Cooker

I'm looking at buying a new cooker (oven and hob) and wonder, in these times of rising energy prices, which would be cheaper to run:
Gas
Electric (and what different hobs - conventional, induction, halogen, ceramic)
or
Combi (gas hob, electric oven)
Does anyone know of any tests that have been performed, measuring energy consumed to heat specific 'loads'?
Sorry if this has cropped up before, I did a search and found nothing.
Cheers

Hi Wimpwob
Most places have stoped making gas ovens they can be hard to get hold of. I have a gas hob and fan oven which (in my opinion) is as quick as gas to heat up (thus saving some money).

The problem is that just because something heats up quicker does not necessarily mean that it has used less energy. The problem is further confused by the fact that gas and electricty are charged differently.0
