comparison site mistakes?

i'm in process of switching from npower to eon via energyhelpline and had a phone call from npower trying to persuade me to stay. they said energyhelpline is being investigated because it makes comparisons on a standard tarrif, not the tarrif you are currently on, so new suppliers appear cheaper. they then made me an offer on a new tarrif which was cheaper and the're sending me details. anyone else heard this or been contacted in this way. seems a bit fishy to me

Explicit lies from nPower. What a surprise.

You do have to take some care to ensure you select the correct input options on the comparison sites. And nPower (like all suppliers) introduce new cheaper tariffs without telling existing customers. Just do the comparison again (with the new tariff nPower have offered as an input.) Remember you are due a £100 rebate for dual fuel every 12 months (if you are paying by direct debit). Contact nPower and ask them when that anniversary date is to make sure you don't forfeit that for the sake of a month or two.

You said you were on energyhelpline site and you just got a call from nPower?

You said you were on energyhelpline site and the npower rep said energyhelpline assume "makes comparisons on a standard tarrif, not the tarrif you are currently on"

If you had been on energyhelpline, you would see the comparison site, like all the others, asks you for your current tariff rather than just assuming you are on a standard tariff.

Fishy? I would say so. ... and a brand new MSE account too

  • premier, you seem to doubt me. i have been on energyhelpline and i did put in my current tarriff, what npower told me was that the site ignore this and use standard tarriff in their calculations so changing looks more attractive. perhaps you could tell me what graphics mean, ta
kim thanks for tip on £100 i'll check this

Did you not think to check for yourself instead of believing the bull that Npower salesmen come out with?

If you put your current tariff in then thats what the comparison site will use.
