I applied for a Tescos credit card, it took weeks and had to send of lots of info i.e bank statements and wage slips, loads of hassle to get the card, finally got it - with a massive credit limit of £450.
Not tried Sainsbos, but have got a nectar American Express, which was fast and painless and got a £5200 credfut limit.
Tesco's did appear on experian but not exquifax.
Hope this helps a little.0 -
Sainsburys Bank is a joint venture with HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland)
No idea whether they use different credit reference agencies but it will all depend on the 'scorecard' they use themselves rather than your credit record alone.
Sainsburys Bank made a loss last year, so they may be being more picky about who they choose, but no other insight as to your likelyhood of being accepted or getting a decent credit limit.

I've got a Sainsburys and Halifax card and not met with any problems. Halifax is 2% monthly min payment and S'burys is 3% if that helps with decisions at all.
Sainsburys do seem quite fussy - lower limits more comparable with Barclaycard, which for me, is half (@ £7K) than what I got with Halifax (£14K), even though I got my S'burys one last. Their statements take about 10 days to get to me and then they have to be paid within about 7 days of that. A tight turnaround if you're not using S'burys Internet banking.
Sainsburys use Experian. No experience of Tesco, so can't help on that front.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -

I got a tesco credit card - they do seem to start with a low credit limit - I'm convinced this is so that they can charge when I go over my limit
However I would say that their security is VERY GOOD - My card got cloned on a night outat a local curry house - pre chin & pin and they contacted me the next morning querying the unusual internet usage and suspended the card
It might be however that I never more exicting than my local Tesco with my credit card so that it stood out like a sore thumb!!I want to...........?0
