Flowering plant for Trelise
Hello again
At front of our house we have 3 wooden trelise's (excuse spelling) so I would like to plant something that will grow and have nice flowers.
One of them has a Clemetis which is nice, but I think some of them do not flower for very long, so does anyone have any recommendations. We want something that is fairly easy maintenance.
Thanks

Clematis seems to have the market covered with regards to being an excellent flowing climber, but you do need to be aware of when to prune your particular clematis to get the best results. As alternatives i would suggest Passionflower & Honeysuckle. Both extremely easy and free flowering. Passionflower is much quicker and getting established.0

Honeysuckle and Jasmine - beautiful smell and very welcoming to guestsIt's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0

Thank you everyone, can you recommend a good place for purchase these, B&Q Garden Centre etc.
I'll go for the ones that you have recommended here, and maybe a mix of Passionflower, Honeysuckle and Jasmine.
The house is based in Berkshire just off the A4
Thanks

Which direction does the house face? If it's in the sun all day or shady all day can make a difference to which plants will grow well. Also, how big are the trellis?
Honeysuckle is lovely but goes bare on its lower stems so looks best if you can plant something in front of it. I wouldn't plant Passionflower - it's a real thug and will start coming up all over the place.
I like the evergreen honeysuckle - Lonicera japonica 'Halliana'. Jasmine - the summer and winter varieties - are also good. Summer Jasmine needs quite a warm spot, the winter one will do alright on a north-facing wall.0 -
Morrisons usually sell a fair few climbers but think this is normally in the summerIt's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0

In order of preference:- Local nursery, Garden centre and as a last resort B&Q. Add in Trachelospermum jasminoides to the mix as its very well scented. Had you been in a warmer area I might have suggested Mandaville (or diplendenia) Exotic flowers but a touch tender.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

My daughter has a passionflower bought from Morrisons and I have always been impressed by it
When we went there last week it even had a floweer on it. It's a good buy for a trellis I think.
Incidentally, I clicked Thanks by mistake before I started my message:o.0 -
