I'm obsessed with toiletries, books, any BOGOFS and saving ice cream tubs:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I'm sure I have enough toiletries to last me till next Summer:o:o"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Heaps of envelopes waiting to be re-used. Even bigger heaps of old computer print-outs (and getting bigger by the minute) waiting to light the wood stove. Pallets cluttering the back yard waiting to be sawn up and burnt. Sometimes I think I should change my name to Steptoe & Son.
I have so many bottles of deodorant (bought half-price) that they live in a special bag in the toiletries 'stash' in the utility room...enough to keep me sweet-smelling for the next 5 years. I stockpile anything non-perishable that I know I'll use.
I can't pass a skip without checking it out. Friends get embarrassed but I still go and have a look.I still can't forgive myself for the oak table I didn't grab at once. I had a cup of tea then returned to the skip and saw someone else taking the table away. :rotfl:
Oh - I nearly forgot the stacks of jam jars....for the jam I rarely get time to make...

My compulsions include:
Keeping things just in case...
Checking Freecycle every 30 minutes I am online,
Empty coffee jars, jam jars, marg tubs and yoghurt pots for preserve making or growing seedlings,
Using potato skins the next day as roastie chips,
Leaving the toilet roll on the holder, even if there are only two sheets left on it so they can be used, rather than putting a new one out,
Checking MSE daily :T,
Turning all the lights off in the house, even when people are in the room e.g DS in bedroom on laptop or OH watching TV. They both have grizzled at me for stubbing their toes in the dark or walking into doors...oops,
I am another lister...on the back of envelopes, birthday cards, teabag & cereal boxes, if there is a blank space I write on it,
Checking my online banking, sometimes even two/three times a day. Whistle while you work...0 -

I'm so pleased to read this thread and realise I'm not alone in my compulsion. I too am obsessed with BOGOF's and any similar price reduction for anything I can store. It really has paid off though, as I never have to pay full price for anything. I've also learned the cyclic timing of the BOGOF's in Boots, M&S and Sainsbury's.
I have about 30 toilet cleaners and over 20 bottles of fairy liquid. I also counted 186 toilet rolls. It sounds so sad to some people, but it gives me a wonderful feeling of security to know how much stock of all this stuff I actually have.
The double wardrobe in my bedroom is often referred to as my "shop" by the family. My partner finds it amusing, but they'll often ask when they come over "is your shop open tonight? I've run out of mouth wash.."0 -

When my son was small and nappies were on offer, I worked out approx how many nappies I would use each day and then what age group I would need and bought loads of packs so had enough for a good few months. Saved loads of money. Anyone seeing me buying loads of packs must have thought I was mad...0

I was glad I'd saved all my margarine tubs.
A couple of years back, a dear friend of ours passed away. Now, the thing was, he was the Dungeon Master for our Dungeons & Dragons group, and had loads and loads of the little pewter figures of orcs, trolls, goblins, skeletons etc, plus a lot of player-character figures (magic users, barbarians etc). Anyway, they were all jumbled up from being used in our D&D games, and his widow wanted them out of the way. Another chap in the group agreed to have them, but it fell to me to sort them out, repair and repaint the ones that needed it, and the marg tubs were just right for this - orcs in one, kobolds in another, etc, all suitably labelled. I ended up using 13 x 1kg tubs for this task.:pIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
