Oh and cast iron pans, Le Creuset, Staub, any type really, pans, casseroles, gratin dishes, griddles, **sighs** I love my cast iron stuff I do.:o:D
I have too many, so need to get rid but unbeknownst to my family I have just 2 more that I have bought for christmas to be given to me by them as my christmas present. When I open them I will be very surprised and delighted.;):rotfl:DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

I have a problem with buttons. If any clothes are too worn to give away I use them as rags but cut all the buttons off. I had a box full of odd buttons, not really knowing what I will eventually do with them. I think its because my mum used to do it.
I have finally managed to give them to a lady who sews her own things and sells them, so she will put them to good use. :j0 -

It must be in our genes somewhere. My Mum has a whole boxroom filled with sewing stuff her Mum stashed away just in case, and I can see myself inheriting it one day too...(untouched for 25+ years!)
I wonder if it is because we grew up seeing them do it and learned from them, or if it is somehow programmed in at a deeper level?
I just can't bear to part with anything that is still in good condition and could be useful. Thank god for eBay, where at least I know the few things I do part with go to a good home!0 -
I just ordered another three cookery books from The Book People.
In my defence, two of them have been on my Amazon wishlist for ages and nobody has bought them for me, and one of them is about making sweets (Hope & Greenwood) and will help me make Christmas presents and save money. Really.0 -
I don't think there is anything wrong with having a [STRIKE]huge stash[/STRIKE] few bits of fabric. But don't ask me to CUT it .
I like to look at my [STRIKE]enormous basket full[/STRIKE] collection and dream of the things I could make but that's just normal, isn't it?It would take YEARS to make it all up.
I think I've cured my obsession for buying reduced toiletries from Boots' clearance shelves. Everything will get used provided I spend the rest of my life in the shower.... bother, shame I have to start sewing!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

Mine is more of an aversion than a compulsion - I begrudge paying full-price for anything these days!
Last week my OH was laughing at me cos he DARED to suggest we go to the Baker's BEFORE 3pm and I got all offended and said 'What, and pay full price?'
This might count as an obsession, if OH does go out shopping on his own, I demand the receipt when he gets in:rotfl:
I think you're very kind letting your other half actually go shopping alone, my DP is banned. Whistle while you work...0 -
Chopped tomatoes and kidney beans! At one point I had so many tins I swear I could have made enough chilli to feed a small African nation!
Snap!
My other compulsion is my monthly calendar where I have a running balance and also write down meal prep. I always stare at it and wonder how I can eek out that little bit more and make totally unrealistic savings plans based on eating baked beans or indeed kidney beans/tomatoes forever and a day. Lists and trawling charity shops too. My husband gave me worried looks when I had a vast collection of envelopes which had been cannabalised with post-it notes etc. to reuse. I just remind him how it paid for his car though which shuts him up.0 -
For me, it's lists. I have all sorts of lists all over the place.
Meal plans
Shopping lists
Cash in and out lists
Christmas Gift Lists
Random jobs to do lists
Freezer inventory
I could go on and on and MrS doesn't appreciate them at all. I need them though - they keep me sane and organised!0
