I Know probably a silly post but we have three touch lamps in bedrooms, they have been known to turn on by themselves!
I looked on google and apparently radiowaves can make this happen, anyone else had any experience of this?

Are you sure they don't turn on when something else is being turned on/off in the house.. kettle, fridge, heating pump. Surges can cause this.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

My first thought was power surges or spikes on the mains supply, but after google search coming up with wireless affecting the lamps it just got me thinking! You can't con an honest man!0

Hi All,
One of my friends can set off their RF wireless doorbell by pressing the power button on their Medion RF remote control for their PC!
Somehow the two are set to the same frequency or something!
Cheers

you don't keep a mobile phone near the lamp at all do you ?
they give off waaaaay stronger emi than a wireless router does.
(next time your phone rings put it up close to your monitor and see what happens)"If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."0 -
It depends on the technology that your touchlamp uses0

I bought a Panasonic telly that was afraid of the dark!!
I realised that everytime it got dark my tv remote stopped working.
It turned out that every time i switched on a light with an energy saving lightbulb it interfered with the infra-red signal and stopped the remote working!0 -
I have a similar problem with my Sky remote control in the bedroom. I have a small fluorescent reading light above my bed which, if switched on, interferes with the remote control and stops it working. When we switch the light off it works fine. If I want to watch telly in the bedroom I have to make sure I switch the table lamp on instead!
It took us a while to figure this out. We thought that the handset had lost its programming or was kaput
Very strange!0 -
Touch lamps can also be set off by static electricity discharging. I once had to deal with a lot of returns of a particular touch controlled floor lamp - it seems the designers hadn't banked on people having synthetic carpets!0
