B'Card - SAR

Hi

I wonder if someone can help me?

I am currently trying to reclaim charges for a friend, after having success myself:j, however unlike me my friend isn't a hoarder and doesn't keep docs:o.

My friend has a Barclaycard and they have sent her some statements, however it would appear that she previously had another account which she closed before taking out her current card - does that make sense:confused:.

Anyhow, I sent of a request for her previous account (including previous address etc) but they have replied stating that unless we have the actual credit card number they cannot locate any information relating to the previous account? Which my friend doesn't have!

Does anyone know if this is really the case or are they just trying to fob us off?

TIA for any help
SB

How did your friend pay their Barclaycard? Was it cheque, direct payment online, cash or Direct Debit?
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • Thanks for the reply.

She normally paid by cheque but she has no records of anything regarding this account.

I assumed Barclaycard would have been able to retrieve the info without an account number and to be honest I am intrigued as to how if they have deleted the info as they are claiming, how will an account number help anyhow!

I reckon it's just a fob off - can anyone suggest my next step.

    TIA

We are still in the game. Did she pay the full amount, or minimum payments?
Does she remember roughly when she had the card.
Get her to check her statements over a period of a month when she had the card and ask the bank to get her copies of the cheques from that month due to a legal dispute ;)

EDIT: front and back(hopefully on the bank of one of the cheques will be the card account number :D

    THanks for your reply.

I will contact her and find out if she paid full amount or min payments - I reckon min payments. I'm not sure if she is still banking with the same bank as this was a few years ago - will check that as well.

This is when you wish everyone hoarded paper like I do:D. I'm so bad that we used to have a HSBC cc and only ever used it a few times and they cancelled it as it was dormant for so long - I managed to get about £100 back from them as I still had the statements (dating back to 2004:eek: and hubby still gives of about my hoarding:rolleyes:).

    Thanks again
