i recently re-formatted my mum's computer as she was having so many niggly problems with. After i had done this the printer software I tried to re-install wouldn't let me saying' the installation couldn't continue because there needed to be a minimum of 256 colours to continue installing and i had my setting at 16 also the screen resolution wasn't big enough.
I've tried to go into control panel/display/settings to change this but it doeasnt give me the option of any more than 16 colours and when i try and drag the screen res on to a different res it doesnt move.....how can this be.
Before all this reformatting polava the printer software had re-installed fine....any ideas.
Hope you can help :'( :'(

It sounds like you have to install the display drivers for the graphics card first. Windows has generic drivers that work with all cards so you can see what is happening during setup. The most flexibility regards colours and resolution will be obtained by using the latest specific drivers for the card or graphics chip set that you have.

yep this is correct. Once you've installed the display drivers you will be able to change the settings.. Download the latest drivers from the net rather than using ones you have on cd - this will ensure complete compatibility
