You should be able to view the text of the message (plus a bit of gobbledygook from the message header) by opening it in a word processor.
If it has an attachment you need to get at, you'll need to get it into your e-mail software - what do you use?

    Windows XP: Windows Vista:
Windows Mail; Windows Live Mail; Mozilla Thunderbird
    Windows 7:
    Windows Live Mail; Mozilla Thunderbird
Note: those in bold don't need to be downloaded as they're already there.

What's the file extension of the attachment?

    .eml
OE removes access to attachments using this file extension. However, using forward on the tool bar in OE the attachment shows as an envelope that if clicked opens the attachment (use caution if you do this, it could be a worm). Others have reported that importing the message into Outlook from Outlook Express works to make the attachment files visible.

If that's what it is, the 'correct' way to gain access to it is outlined here.
