Charity Website Help

Hi all, I am the information officer for a small befriending project based in Scotland. i am wanting to create a basic website for the charity and was wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions on where I can get a free domain name and a template for creating a website? Any help or advice much appreciated.

I think that if you need to ask these questions, you need the help of an average teenager! Contact your local Volunteer Centre and ask them to put out a call for a web designer for you. Alternatively, contact the local paper and put out an appeal for someone. You also need to consider having the skills to keep the site up to date.

The old adage of 'you get what you pay for' springs to mind.

'Free' and 'templates' may rapidly become limiting.

I think if you want your own domain name - https://www.furiousdbefrienders.org.uk rather than a /furiousdbefrienders appendage on a local information listings site - you'll have to pay for it. But honestly, it is not a vast expense! Then there's hosting too, but please don't ask me to explain the difference, I have teenagers for that ...

Don't look for free look for good value hosting and put google ads on it to pay for the hosting cost.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.
